Qatar Residents Invited To Witness Total Lunar Eclipse At MIA Park On Sunday

Doha, Qatar: Members of the public are invited to witness a total lunar eclipse on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park. The event, organized by Qatar Museums in collaboration with Qatar Calendar House (QCH), will begin from 3pm to 11pm and is free to attend.

Ahead of the eclipse, visitors can enjoy a range of family-friendly activities, including guided tours, treasure hunts, and art workshops. These will run from 3pm and require prior registration through the Qatar Museums website .

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr. Bashir Marzouk, an astronomy expert at QCH, confirmed that residents in Qatar will be able to observe all phases of the eclipse.

The partial phase will begin at 7:27pm, followed by the total eclipse at 8:31pm, reaching its peak at 9:12pm Doha time. The total phase will end at 9:53pm, with the final partial stage concluding around 10:56pm.

The entire event will last about three hours and 29 minutes.

A total lunar eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when the Moon is completely engulfed by the Earth's shadow, often turning it into a striking reddish hue commonly referred to as a "Blood Moon." This eclipse will be visible across large parts of Africa, in the Middle East, Europe, and most of Asia and Australia.
