Large Fire Breaks Out In Sumy Following Drone Attack, Child Among Injured


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, reported this on Telegram .

“As a result of the enemy attack in Sumy, a large-scale fire broke out. Russian strike drones hit non-residential buildings in the city's Zarichnyi district,” he wrote.

Preliminary reports indicate no fatalities. Authorities are still assessing the full impact of the attack.

Hryhorov warned that the threat of further strikes remains and urged residents to stay in shelters until the air raid alert is lifted.

Acting Sumy Mayor Artem Kobzar confirmed:“The two explosions you heard today were enemy UAVs hitting non-residential buildings.”

He added that there are injured individuals and that emergency services will resume recovery efforts once the threat of renewed attacks subsides.

Later, Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration, clarified that the strike destroyed a market building and damaged four residential buildings, shattering around 50 windows.

Several people sought outpatient medical care, including a child.

“The fire has been extinguished. Municipal services are involved in cleanup and recovery,” Kryvosheienko stated.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Russian attack on Sumy caused partial disruptions to water and power supply.
