ABU DHABI, Aug 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Al-Tomooh Club's riders have snatched the first three positions at Special Olympics the Middle East and North Africa Equestrian Championship in Al-Ain in the UAE on Tuesday.
Kuwait's female rider Basma Al-Busaili won the gold medal followed by Mariam Dhiab, with the silver, and Abdullah Al-Ali who won the bronze.
Speaking to KUNA, Secretary General of Club and head of the Kuwaiti delegation said this progress shows determination of Kuwaiti athletes with intellectual disabilities to advance and keenness of Kuwait to enable this category to highlight their potential at international sports arenas.
This progress in a new addition to Kuwait's path in backing athletes, she noted, thanking Kuwait Embassy in the UAE for its support to the Kuwaiti delegation's members since their arrival.
The competition kicked off Tuesday and runs until tomorrow, with the participation of athletes from 11 Arab countries. (end)
