Airtel Down In Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata Users Struggle To Make And Receive Calls

(MENAFN- Live Mint) Bharti Airtel experienced a network outage in parts of the country, including Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, on Sunday, with several users reporting difficulties in making or receiving calls. Tracking site DownDetector showed that complaints started around 11 am and spiked at 12:11 pm, with more than 6,800 users reporting disruptions.

According to the platform, 52% of users said they saw a“No Signal” message, while 31% reported problems with mobile internet.

Apart from the IT hub of India, outages were also reported in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, and several other cities across the country. Airtel described the outage as a“temporary disruption” and assured users that the issue would be resolved within an hour.

“We apologize for the inconvenience. The issue you're facing appears to be due to a temporary connectivity disruption and is expected to be resolved within 1 hour. Once that time has passed, please restart your mobile phone to restore services. Thank you,” the Airtel Cares message read.

The outage comes just days after the telecom company reported a disruption in Delhi and neighbouring areas, and later apologised for the inconvenience caused to customers.

Social media users react

The network outage caused frustration among social media users, who took to X to complain about connectivity issues.

“Anyone else in Bangalore experiencing an Airtel network outage? Calls aren't going through, and data isn't working,” asked one X user.“No network in Dharwad, Karnataka? Airtel, what happened?” another wrote.

Some users also reported problems from Delhi.“Airtel down in Delhi? For the last hour, my wife thinks I'm ignoring her calls. Thanks, Airtel India, for turning a network issue into a marriage issue,” a person posted on X.

“Unable to make any calls and no mobile data. Shows as not registered,” wrote one user on Reddit.

“Same here in Bangalore. I can't book a cab in a few hours for a meeting,” another added.

“Yes, the whole internet, broadband, and mobile are all down in Bengaluru without any warning, and the worst part is that Airtel is not taking any complaints via their app or IVRS, and there's no response over X (Twitter) either,” a user said.
