SEMICON India 2025 To Showcase India's Drive To Strengthen Global Semiconductor Value Chain
The flagship event is being positioned as a major platform to showcase India's growing role in the global semiconductor value chain.
Organised by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in partnership with SEMI, the global semiconductor industry association, the event will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, experts, academia, and students under the theme 'Building the Next Semiconductor Powerhouse'.
India's semiconductor programme has gathered momentum in recent years, with the government approving 10 projects of strategic importance, including fabrication units, 3D heterogeneous packaging, compound semiconductors, and outsourced assembly and testing facilities.
Efforts are also underway to strengthen design and research capabilities, with advanced tools deployed across 280 academic institutes and 72 start-ups, while 23 start-ups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme.
“India is progressing well towards building an end-to-end semiconductor ecosystem for applications ranging from surveillance systems and navigation tools to communication chips and microprocessors,” MeitY officials said.
According to organisers, SEMICON India 2025 will host nearly 350 exhibitors, including leading global semiconductor and electronics companies, along with four country pavilions, nine state delegations, six international roundtables and over 15,000 visitors.
“SEMI is bringing the combined expertise of our global member companies to India, helping to advance the nation's semiconductor ecosystem expansion and supply chain resiliency,” said Ajit Manocha, President and CEO, SEMI.
Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, MeitY and CEO of ISM, said the event is designed as a“remarkable convergence of ideas, collaboration and innovation” and will serve as a platform to address future challenges while building new opportunities for cooperation.
Top global companies including Applied Materials, ASML, IBM, Infineon, KLA, Lam Research, Merck, Micron, PSMC, Rapidus, Sandisk, Siemens, SK Hynix, Tata Electronics and Tokyo Electron are expected to participate, alongside Indian stakeholders.
“Collaboration and ecosystem building will be key to unlocking the next wave of breakthroughs, and SEMICON India 2025 plays the role of a catalyst,” said Ashok Chandak, President, SEMI India and IESA.
