In Kabul Talks, Pakistan Urges Action Against TTP

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) During trilateral talks in Kabul, Pakistan urged stronger action against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), citing rising cross-border attacks and stressing the need for verifiable steps.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged Afghanistan's Taliban authorities to take“decisive and verifiable” action against banned militant groups, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

His call came during the trilateral meeting in Kabul on Wednesday, where Pakistan, China, and the Taliban pledged to strengthen joint counterterrorism efforts. The gathering was also attended by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

On the sidelines, Dar and Wang held separate bilateral meetings with Taliban officials. Wang pressed Kabul to pay“special attention” to China's security concerns, while Dar expressed alarm at the rise in terror attacks inside Pakistan that Islamabad says are being launched from Afghanistan soil.

Dar stressed that Pakistan expects Kabul to move beyond verbal assurances and take tangible steps against groups operating from Afghanistan, which Islamabad accuses of targeting Pakistani security forces and civilians.

This was Wang Yi's second visit to Kabul since the Taliban's return to power in 2021, underscoring Beijing's deepening interest in Afghanistan's political and security landscape.

Analysts say Pakistan's renewed pressure reflects growing frustration with cross-border militancy, which has continued despite repeated commitments from the Taliban. Without concrete action, they warn, regional security will remain fragile.

The trilateral engagement also highlights China's balancing role, seeking a stable Afghanistan to safeguard its strategic and economic interests, while backing Pakistan's call for stronger guarantees from Kabul.
