Tanzania to impose measures to be ready for natural, man-made emergencies

(MENAFN) Tanzania has introduced a set of strategic measures to improve the country’s readiness for both natural and man-made emergencies, underscoring its commitment to safeguarding communities and property.

During a World Humanitarian Day event in Dodoma, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa outlined five priority actions designed to reinforce national disaster management efforts.

The initiatives include allocating resources to restore homes and infrastructure damaged by disasters, distributing relief supplies, creating a national crisis-monitoring center, and advancing the professionalization of humanitarian operations.

Officials noted that the government has already provided seeds, food, and other assistance to flood victims in Rufiji, Kibiti, and Morogoro, as well as to those affected by a recent building collapse in Dar es Salaam’s Kariakoo district.

To boost rapid response, authorities have established a situation room capable of tracking emergencies in real time and coordinating swift interventions. Communication systems and emergency operation hubs have also been strengthened to support this effort.

Majaliwa commended aid workers for their bravery and compassion, while calling for stronger collaboration between partners to ensure a more effective disaster response across the country.
