(MENAFN) Annual inflation in the eurozone eased to 2% in July, compared to 2.4% across the entire European Union, according to official data released Wednesday by Eurostat.
The statistical agency pinpointed services as the largest factor behind the eurozone’s inflation, followed by food, alcohol and tobacco, along with non-energy industrial goods.
On a country level, inflation trends varied: prices dropped year-on-year in eight member states, remained unchanged in six, and increased in 13, Eurostat reported.
The lowest inflation rates were recorded in the Greek Cypriot Administration at 0.1%, France at 0.9%, and Ireland at 1.6%.
In contrast, the highest inflation was seen in Romania (6.6%), Estonia (5.6%), and Slovakia (4.6%).
