Ukraine Open to Hold Aerial Ceasefire Talks with Russia
(MENAFN) Ukraine is open to discussions on a potential aerial ceasefire with Russia, according to a report from a Ukrainian news agency on Wednesday. The statement was made by Mykhailo Podolyak, a senior advisor to the Ukrainian president, who emphasized that the country is prepared to explore this option as a possible first step toward a broader peace negotiation.
"Ukraine is ready to discuss and consider this scenario, viewing it as an initial step towards achieving realistic negotiating positions," Podolyak stated. He further explained that while any ceasefire, especially a comprehensive one, could be challenging, it could also serve as a foundation for future peace talks.
Podolyak’s comments come as both sides in the ongoing conflict seek potential avenues for de-escalation, although the viability of any ceasefire remains uncertain. The Ukrainian government has consistently called for diplomatic solutions, while simultaneously reinforcing its stance on territorial integrity.
