(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
LONDON, Aug 13 (KUNA) -- British Home Office, declared Wednesday, expanding use of facial recognition cameras as part of efforts aimed at combating crime.
In a press release, the Home Office explained that 10 vans will be rolled out across seven police forces in England, equipped with facial recognition cameras and dispersed in public areas to efficiently identify suspects.
This kind of technology has been in use since 2017 in London, with 580 criminals detained within the past year.
This is part of a more comprehensive plan to combat increasing crime, including training around 13,000 new police officers during the upcoming four years, the Home Office clarified. (end)
