Türkiye, Syria Seal Ten Key Trade Agreements


(MENAFN) Business representatives from Türkiye and Syria finalized a series of trade agreements on Wednesday during a high-level meeting held in Istanbul.

The agreements were formalized at the headquarters of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEIK), where delegations from both nations gathered to strengthen economic ties.

In total, ten accords were signed between various Turkish and Syrian business institutions. These included agreements between the DEIK/Türkiye-Syria Business Council and the Syria-Türkiye Business Council; DEIK and the Damascus Chamber of Commerce; DEIK and the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce; DEIK and the Latakia Chamber of Commerce; DEIK and the Hama Chamber of Commerce; DEIK and the Aleppo Chamber of Industry; the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and the Damascus Chamber of Commerce; the Southeast Anatolia Grain, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters' Association with both the Damascus and Aleppo Chambers of Commerce; and the Cizre Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce.

The signing ceremony was attended by Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Muhammad Nidal Al-Sha'ar and Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade Volkan Agar.

This development follows two additional trade agreements signed the previous day, aimed at expanding commercial cooperation between the two countries. According to the Turkish trade minister, those agreements include the "Protocol on the Establishment of the Türkiye-Syria Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO)" and the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Administrative Development and Governance."
