Electrical Fault Disrupts Trains Between Paris, Northern France

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, Aug 5 (KUNA) -- France's state rail operator, SNCF, announced Tuesday that services linking Paris to the north would remain disrupted until at least midday, following an electrical fault cut power in the Val-d'Oise region on Monday.
Several high-speed TGV trains were canceled this morning, and those still running were delayed by five to 45 minutes, SNCF said in a press release carried by BFM TV.
Nine trains were cancelled at Lille-Europe station while maintenance teams raced to repair damaged overhead wiring on the Paris-Lille high-speed line, it said.
Train traffic was severely disrupted on Monday following a power outage caused by a faulty electrical wiring, according to the SNCF, which indicated that traffic partially resumed yesterday evening via an alternative route.
Passengers were urged to check the status of their trains through official channels; affected ticketholders are entitled to refunds or free exchanges, it mentioned. (end)
