Thousands of Boeing employees go on strike after rejecting labor deal

(MENAFN) Approximately 3,200 experienced employees at Boeing have launched a strike, according to announcements made by the union representing them. The work stoppage began at midnight, with the union declaring on X that the workers had reached their limit and were taking action, stating: "3,200 highly-skilled IAM Union members at Boeing went on strike at midnight because enough is enough."

The move follows a vote held on Sunday in which union members turned down an updated four-year contract proposal from Boeing.

The union emphasized that its members should receive an agreement that acknowledges their expertise, commitment, and their essential contribution to national defense.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with these working families as they fight for fairness and respect on the job," said union representative Tom Boelling.

In the days leading up to the strike, Boeing introduced a revised offer with modest improvements in compensation compared to the previous version. The proposal featured a jump in the average yearly salary, increasing from $75,000 to $102,600.
