Ukraine Signs 29 Agreements With Japan To Bolster Economic Recovery
“On the sidelines of the forum, Ukraine and Japan signed 29 important agreements. They refer to the implementation of joint projects in the field of agriculture and food industry, infrastructure and construction, technologies and innovations,” the report states.
The key documents include a trilateral declaration between the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Economy Ministries of Japan and Ukraine on green industrial recovery with technology transfer and the creation of new enterprises together with the Japanese private sector.
Ukrainian Financial Housing Company PrJSC (Ukrfinzhytlo) signed a memorandum with Japan's Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) to attract funding for the eOselia [eHousing] affordable mortgage lending programme at rates below the market ones.
Additionally, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Economy Ministry, Japan's Fujita Corporation will be implementing a project on strengthening the supply chain of chilled and frozen products with the construction of relevant infrastructure.
The forum was organized by the Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry in cooperation with the Ukrainian Economy, Environment and Agriculture Ministry and with the support of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
“During the forum, we had many meetings with Japanese businesses. The companies are interested in investing hundreds of millions of dollars in different projects in Ukraine. This means that we are doing very practical work for recovery purposes,” Ukrainian Economy, Environment and Agriculture Minister Oleksii Sobolev noted.
The forum was also attended by the representatives of Ukrainian companies, such as Metinvest, Epicentr, Ukrhydroenergo, Naftogaz, DTEK, Oschadbank, Ukrnafta, etc.
A reminder that the Ukraine-Japan Economic Reconstruction Forum was held for the first time, but it is a logical continuation of intensified economic dialogue between Ukraine and Japan in 2024-2025. The goal of the forum is to deepen business relations between the two countries and discuss opportunities for cooperation between the public and private sectors for Ukraine's sustainable economic recovery.
