Pregnant Woman And Husband Killed In Balochistan In Another 'Honour' Killing
In yet another chilling incident of so-called honour killing, a married couple was murdered years after their court marriage in Balochistan. According to Levies officials, Mohammad Shoaib from Panjgur had married a woman of his choice seven years ago.
Recently, reconciliation had taken place between Shoaib and his in-laws. However, under the pretext of a family gathering, his wife's brothers invited the couple to Quetta.
Officials said Shoaib, accompanied by his wife and brother, travelled from Panjgur to Quetta and stayed at a hotel near Lakpass. The next day, the woman's brothers reportedly arrived at the hotel after contacting the couple by phone and fatally shot both husband and wife before fleeing the scene.

Levies confirmed that the victims were aged between 27 and 28 years. They had two children, aged three and six, and the woman was pregnant at the time of her murder. A case has been registered against five of the woman's brothers at the Levies station, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Degari Incident: Key Accused Still at Large
In the recent, and most viral case in the Degari area, the main suspect in the murder of the woman and a man also remains at large. Police say the woman's brother, Jalal, is the primary accused and is currently evading arrest. Meanwhile, tribal elders Sherbaz and Bashir Ahmed are on a 10-day police remand, and the victim's mother is in jail.
It has been 11 days since the video of the Degari killings surfaced, yet police have failed to arrest the main suspect. The victims, Bano Bibi and Ihsanullah, were shot dead in the Sanjidi-Degari area around a month and a half ago.
Following the viral video, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti took notice of the case. In a press conference, he stated that there was no marital relationship between the slain man and woman, reaffirming the state's commitment to support the victims and bring all those involved to justice.
These two incidents are part of a troubling wave of honour-based killings reported recently from across the country, including the brutal murder of 17-year-old Sidra in Rawalpindi.
