China Announces Deployment of Low Orbit Satellites for Global Internet
(MENAFN) China on Sunday confirmed the "successful" deployment of a new group of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites intended to form part of an expanding internet constellation, according to state media reports.
The launch occurred at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, situated in northern Shanxi province, a Beijing-based news agency reported.
This batch represents the fifth group of such satellites launched by China to build out its global internet network in low Earth orbit. The satellites were carried into space aboard a modified Long March-6 carrier rocket and reached their predetermined orbit as planned, demonstrating precise mission execution.
The event also marked a significant milestone, being the 585th mission carried out by the Long March series of carrier rockets, underscoring China’s growing presence in space technology and satellite deployment.
