Attack on Iran Border Outpost Leaves Two Guards Dead

(MENAFN) Two Iranian border guards lost their lives and a third sustained injuries during an assault by a "hostile and counter-revolutionary" faction targeting a border post in Iran’s western Kurdestan province, according to a local news agency.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night at a patrol station in Baneh County, where the border guards were conducting routine surveillance, explained Faraj Rostami, the provincial border guards commander, on Wednesday.

Rostami confirmed the identities of the fallen officers as Sajjad Adib and Ali Bodagh, both fatally shot in the attack.

He further stated that the members of the "hostile" group attempted to infiltrate Iranian territory but were ultimately repelled after encountering intense gunfire from the border guards.
