Trump Says US Would Attack Iran’s Nuclear Sites if Necessary
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has stood by last month’s American military attacks on three of Iran’s nuclear sites, making it clear that Washington remains prepared to carry out more operations if required.
Responding to recent statements by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Trump emphasized that the United States would strike again “if necessary.”
On Monday, Trump posted a message on his Truth Social platform, addressing Araghchi’s admission that the Iranian nuclear facilities were “seriously damaged.”
Trump highlighted the severity of the outcome and reinforced his prior claims by quoting Araghchi’s own words: “Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, on the Iran Nuclear Sites: ‘Damages are very severe, they are destroyed.’ Of course they are, just like I said.”
He also targeted CNN, demanding the dismissal of one of its journalists while accusing the media outlet of downplaying the military’s achievements.
According to Trump, US pilots had “OBLITERATED” the nuclear sites with great effectiveness.
CNN reported, citing preliminary assessments from US intelligence, that although the strikes significantly impaired Iran’s nuclear capabilities, the damage may have only delayed the country’s program by a few months rather than fully dismantling it.
Araghchi made his comments during an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier.
He acknowledged that the nuclear installations had sustained considerable harm, saying: “Our facilities have been damaged – seriously damaged…the extent of which is now under evaluation by our atomic energy organization.”
Despite the setbacks, the Iranian foreign minister made it clear that Tehran will not give up its uranium enrichment efforts.
“We cannot give up enrichment because it is an achievement of our own scientists. And now, more than that, it is a question of national pride,” he stated to Fox.
