Iranian FM Expresses Concern Over Recent Regional Developments

TEHRAN, July 18 (KUNA) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed on Friday deep concern over recent developments, including the Israeli occupation's attacks on Syria and Lebanon and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
This came during a phone call between the Iranian Foreign Minister and his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, during which they discussed the latest developments in the region, particularly the situation in Syria, said Iranian News Agency (IRNA).
Araghchi stressed the need to coordinate the efforts of the countries of the region to confront the aggressive and expansionist policies of the occupation, which undermine the stability and security of the entire region, it added.
For his part, the Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed Syria's territorial integrity, the preservation of the rights of all minorities, and the fight against attempts to divide it.
Syria previously announced that Israeli occupation forces had carried out air strikes targeting sites in the city of Daraa in southern Syria.
The Syrian Ministry of Health's media office reported that one person killed and 18 others injured in airstrikes targeting the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Meanwhile, the Syrian presidency said in a statement earlier that the withdrawal of military forces from the city of Sweida came in response to the American-Arab mediation. (end)
