Attack Leaves 2 Policemen, 1 Militant Dead In N. Pakistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, July 16 (KUNA) -- At least two policemen and an attacker were killed on Wednesday in a "terrorist" attack in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan, said police.
The spokesperson for the district police, Yaqoob Khan in a statement to media said that the two police personnel were on their way to buy food when the terrorists opened fire on them in Kulachi area of KPK's Dera Ismail Khan district.
Following the attack, police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel tracked down the terrorists and killed one of them during an operation.
The two other militants were injured in the operation but managed to flee.
"Weapons and ammunition have been recovered from the slain terrorist, while a search operation is underway for the terrorists at large," said the spokesperson. (end)
