Greece Braces for Intensified Heatwave
(MENAFN) Greece is getting ready to face a fresh and more severe heatwave, which is anticipated to bring extreme heat and an increased likelihood of wildfires, according to local news sources on Wednesday.
As reported by a daily newspaper, weather predictions indicate that temperatures may rise as high as 43°C (109°F) between Sunday, July 20, and at least Tuesday, July 22 — with the possibility of the heatwave continuing into Wednesday.
Meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafilia noted that temperatures ranging from 39 to 40°C (102–104°F) are expected in the days leading up to the weekend, before the peak of the heatwave fully arrives.
He also cautioned that susceptible groups, especially those living in cities with inadequate airflow and limited access to cooling solutions, could endure considerable hardship during this period of extreme temperatures.
