Environmental crimes endanger Africa’s long-term peace
(MENAFN) A rising wave of environmental crimes across Africa is endangering the continent’s long-term peace, development, and ecological resilience, according to experts speaking at the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment, held in Nairobi during its 20th session.
As stated by reports, Kenya’s representative to the United Nations in Nairobi emphasized that addressing these crimes must become a top priority if Africa is to pursue a future marked by sustainable growth and regional security.
"We want to see action against environmental crimes in Africa to be at the center of our conversation around sustainability, climate action and biodiversity protection," Namwamba said.
According to officials, the growing trend of illegal activities targeting natural resources is not only accelerating environmental degradation but also undermining socio-economic progress and governance efforts across the continent.
