Russian FSB Stops Terror Plot in Crimea

(MENAFN) Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has declared it has intercepted a terrorist plot targeting Crimea, revealing that a female suspect was allegedly enlisted by Ukrainian intelligence to assassinate a high-ranking official in the Defense Ministry.

In a public announcement on Monday, the agency identified the accused as a 25-year-old woman possessing both Russian and Ukrainian citizenship.

According to the FSB, she had been recruited by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) and was later ordered by Kiev to execute a car bombing just before Victory Day in May 2025.

However, the FSB withheld any specific information about the intended victim.

Authorities stated that the suspect had acquired an explosive device from her Ukrainian contacts, which was intended to destroy the senior officer’s private vehicle.

“The SBU agents who carried out the recruitment and grooming of the terrorist have been identified,” the agency emphasized.

It further noted that the woman has been detained, and parts of an explosive device, reportedly manufactured in the West, were confiscated during the operation.

In addition, the FSB released a brief video showing a dark-haired woman, her face obscured, being led away by two uniformed officers. If convicted, she could face a life sentence in prison.
