Trump Announces Plans to Deploy Patriot Missiles to Ukraine
(MENAFN) On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to supply Ukraine with Patriot air defense missile systems to strengthen its resistance against ongoing Russian aggression.
While speaking with journalists at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Trump clarified that the European Union will handle the purchase of the missile systems from the U.S. and then transfer them to Ukraine.
"We basically are going to send them various pieces of very sophisticated military equipment. They are going to pay us 100 percent for that, and that's the way we want it," Trump stated. He did not disclose how many Patriot systems would be included in the deal.
Trump further revealed that he intends to hold talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the coming week, aiming to address Ukraine and other pressing issues.
