Flood Alert Issued As Monsoon Rains Lash KP


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) Monsoon rains have led to low-level flooding in rivers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a warning for heavy rainfall, flash floods, and potential landslides in the next 24 hours.

According to the latest report from the flood cell, the Indus River at Khairabad is flowing at 308,500 cusecs. At Tarbela Dam, inflow is recorded at 303,000 cusecs with an outflow of 299,400 cusecs. River Adezai is flowing at 36,700 cusecs, while the Kabul River recorded 39,249 cusecs at Warsak and 56,200 cusecs at Nowshera. River Swat registered 8,027 cusecs at Chakdara and 7,219 cusecs at Khwazakhela.

Heavy rain is expected in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Abbottabad, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, Torghar, Mansehra, Kurram, Khyber, Mohmand, Orakzai, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Tank, D.I. Khan, and North and South Waziristan.

The Met Department has warned of a high risk of flash floods and landslides in Chitral, Swat, Buner, Dir, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, and Kurram.

Rainfall was reported yesterday in Abbottabad, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Buner, Mardan, Bajaur, Kohat, and Kurram. The highest rainfall was recorded in Risalpur at 38mm, followed by Kakol (30mm), Cherat (20mm), and Balakot (15mm).

Peshawar's temperature is expected to range between 24°C and 32°C, while Malam Jabba recorded a low of 16°C and Kalam 17°C.
