Ukraine gets hit with Russian drone assaults

(MENAFN) Ukraine reported on Monday that Russian drone attacks on the cities of Kharkiv and Odesa resulted in at least one fatality and injured 62 people.

Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov provided details via Telegram, stating that 27 individuals were wounded in the initial assault, including three children. Of these, two adults and one child remain hospitalized in moderate condition. The attack occurred around 5:20 a.m. local time and involved four Russian drones targeting the Shevchenkivskyi and Slobidskyi districts of Kharkiv.

The strike damaged multiple structures, including an eight-floor dormitory that caught fire, a multi-story building, a supermarket, a café, a kindergarten’s grounds, two vehicles, and a garage. Additionally, a ballistic missile hit the nearby settlement of Malynivka, causing damage to civilian infrastructure.

Synyehubov also reported a follow-up attack between 10:10 and 10:30 a.m., when six more Russian drones targeted Kharkiv’s Kholodnohirskyi district, injuring 33 more people.

In Odesa, Governor Oleh Kiper confirmed that one person died during the overnight drone assault, which also damaged civilian facilities in the southwestern port city.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the attacks by emphasizing the critical need for air defense systems and urging international partners to fulfill their commitments to Ukraine’s protection.
