Al-Hilal To Face Fluminense At FIFA Club World Cup


(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia and Fluminense will face each other in the quarterfinals of the FIFA Club World Cup. Al-Hilal advanced after defeating one of the title favorites, Manchester City, 4-3 in extra time. Two Brazilian players scored for the Saudi team-Marcos Leonardo found the net twice, while Malcom and Senegalese defender Koulibaly also added goals. Manchester City's goals came from Bernardo Silva, Haaland, and Foden in the match held on Monday night (30) in Orlando, Florida, United States.

Also on Monday, Fluminense defeated European runner-up Inter Milan 2-0 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The goals were scored by Germán Cano in the opening minutes of the match and by Hércules near the end of the second half.

The clash between Fluminense and Al-Hilal will be the third matchup between Arab and Brazilian teams in the tournament. Earlier in the group stage, Flamengo defeated Espérance of Tunisia, and Palmeiras beat Al Ahly of Egypt.

If Al-Hilal beats Fluminense and Palmeiras defeats Chelsea in another quarterfinal match, the two teams could face each other in yet another Arab-Brazilian clash in the semifinals of the tournament.
