Russia Calls in Azerbaijan's Moscow Ambassador

(MENAFN) Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Moscow, Rahman Mustafayev, was called in by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, according to a statement from the ministry.

Mustafayev arrived at the ministry’s headquarters on Smolenskaya Square in Moscow, though he did not answer any questions from the press.

The Russian Foreign Ministry clarified that the ambassador's summons was related to the arrest of Russian journalists in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, last Friday.

On Monday, Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry confirmed that its law enforcement had carried out an operation at the office of the Russian news agency Sputnik Azerbaijan.
