Xi stresses importance of strict Party self-governance
(MENAFN) In a recent address, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, emphasized the importance of advancing comprehensive and strict Party self-governance by promoting good conduct among its members.
Speaking at a group study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held just before the Party’s founding anniversary, Xi extended his greetings to Party members nationwide. The session focused on implementing the CPC Central Committee’s eight-point rules aimed at enhancing discipline and improving work styles.
Xi described these eight-point rules as a defining initiative of the Party in the current era for exercising internal governance. Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the Party has maintained rigorous standards and firm oversight, addressing problems like unnecessary formalities, bureaucracy, indulgence, and wastefulness through educational campaigns and targeted corrective actions.
These measures, Xi noted, have strengthened Party governance overall and generated significant positive momentum for both the Party and the nation’s progress.
He also highlighted the challenging nature of advancing China’s modernization and the increasingly complex environment in which the Party operates, stressing the urgent need for ongoing self-reform.
Xi urged leading officials, particularly senior cadres, to set an example by actively engaging in self-reform efforts to maintain the Party’s vitality and effectiveness.
