U.S. Anticipates Hosting Quad Foreign Ministers in Washington

(MENAFN) The United States is set to host the foreign ministers of the Quad alliance next week in Washington, signaling a continued commitment to collaboration within the group.

According to State Department principal deputy spokesperson Thomas Pigott, Secretary Rubio will welcome the top diplomats from Australia, India, and Japan for the 2025 Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting on July 1st in the U.S. capital.

Pigott emphasized that "The Secretary’s first diplomatic engagement was with the Quad, and next week’s summit builds on that momentum to advance a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific."

Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya confirmed on Friday that he plans to participate in the meeting.

Speaking to journalists during a press briefing in Tokyo, he stated, "Our objective is the realization of a free and open Indo-Pacific, and we intend to promote practical cooperation in extensive areas, including maritime security, economic security and cyber security."

The previous Quad ministerial gathering occurred in Washington this past January, shortly before Donald Trump’s presidential swearing-in.
