Germany's Social Democrats Oppose Nord Stream Relaunch
At their Congress in Berlin, the German Social Democrats spoke out "against the resumption of any natural gas supplies from Russia via the northern gas pipelines," thereby rejecting the corresponding proposals "from the bloc of the Christian Democratic and Christian Social Unions (CDU/CSU) and the Republican Party in the USA."

It is noted that the government of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is exploring the possibility of amending legislation to permanently block the relaunch of both northern gas pipelines connecting Russia and Germany.

In this way the authorities seek to prevent a change in the ownership of the pipelines, which could lead to the resumption of operation.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the German federal government is doing everything possible to prevent the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream-2 from being relaunched.
