Pahalgam Terror Attack: NIA Gets 10-Day Remand Of 2 Accused
The two accused - Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar of Batkote and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam - were earlier sent to five-day custody on Monday. With that remand ending on Friday, the NIA sought and secured a further 10-day remand from the special court.
The duo was arrested by the NIA on Sunday in the first major breakthrough in the April 22 terror attack that left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead and 16 others injured.
According to the agency, both accused knowingly provided shelter, food, and logistical support to three Pakistani terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) at a seasonal dhok (hut) in Hill Park before the attack.
The two provided food, shelter and logistical support to the terrorists, who, on the fateful afternoon, selectively targeted and killed tourists based on their religious identity, making it one of the most gruesome terrorist attacks in recent memory, the agency said.
