Turkiye Pres. Urges Lasting Calm Between Iran, Israeli Occupation

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, June 25 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hoped on Wednesday that the recently concluded ceasefire agreement between Iran and the Israeli occupation could culminate in lasting calm.
"Turkiye hopes the ceasefire will be transformed into lasting calm," the Turkish president said during a press conference following a NATO summit in The Hague, stressing that "everyone needs to shoulder responsibility to achieve peace in the Middle East."
He underlined that lasting solutions with Iran are only possible through diplomacy and dialogue, pointing that the region is full of examples showing that war and destruction lead nowhere, reported Anadolu news agency.
He added that the recent escalation between Israeli occupation and Iran has put the region into jeopardy, noting that from the very beginning of the crisis, Ankara has exerted intensive diplomatic efforts.
US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Iran and the Israeli occupation had agreed to a "complete and total ceasefire". (end)
