Prosecutors Move to Re-Arrest Former South Korean President Yoon
(MENAFN) On Tuesday, South Korean prosecutors moved to secure a new arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok, who is probing Yoon’s December 3 martial law declaration, submitted the request citing charges of obstructing official duties, according to Seoul-based media.
Authorities revealed that Yoon ignored police summons on two separate occasions.
Yoon was removed from office following his unsuccessful attempt to enforce martial law.
In January, Yoon became the first South Korean president to be arrested and indicted on charges including abuse of power and leading an insurrection. He was subsequently released in March after a Seoul district court revoked his detention, allowing him to continue his trial without incarceration.
