Russian Overnight Drone Assault Leaves Several Dead in Ukraine
(MENAFN) At least 15 people lost their lives and 75 sustained injuries after a series of missile and drone attacks launched by Russia struck Ukraine overnight Tuesday, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
The capital city of Kiev bore the brunt of the assault, with a ballistic missile hitting a nine-story residential building. This strike alone resulted in 14 fatalities and left 60 others wounded, as reported by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, citing Klymenko.
In the southern port city of Odesa, the attacks claimed one life and injured 10 more. Additional casualties were confirmed in the regions of Kiev and Chernihiv.
Tymur Tkachenko, who leads the Kiev City Military Administration, detailed that Russian forces unleashed a massive barrage on the capital, deploying 175 drones, over 14 cruise missiles, and two ballistic missiles, predominantly targeting residential zones.
The Interior Ministry revealed that overnight, 27 locations in Kiev were assaulted, encompassing residential blocks, schools, and essential infrastructure.
The State Service for Emergencies confirmed that search and rescue teams continue to work at the impact sites, aiming to locate survivors and assist the injured.
