Musk’s dad voices remarks on son’s quarrel with Trump
(MENAFN) Errol Musk has commented on the public dispute between his son, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and former US President Donald Trump, saying the two might still find common ground. The conflict intensified last week over Trump’s “Big Beautiful” tax and spending bill, which Elon Musk criticized for increasing federal spending and undermining his efforts to reduce government waste. Musk even called for Trump’s impeachment and threatened to halt the US space program by grounding the Dragon spacecraft.
Trump responded by accusing Musk of losing his mind and blamed the disagreement on the end of federal electric vehicle incentives benefiting Tesla. Musk later posted, then deleted, a controversial message linking Trump to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Speaking from Moscow, where he attended a tech forum, Errol Musk said his son’s strong stance is principled but acknowledged there might be room for compromise. He explained that Elon initially supported the Trump administration’s goal to cut spending but was frustrated when policies shifted in the opposite direction.
Errol highlighted that politics often requires compromises and long-term strategies, including investing in projects before seeing returns. He suggested that both Elon and Trump might now be adopting a more mature perspective and hinted that their relationship could improve.
