Ukraine Elected Member Of UN's ECOSOC

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine has been elected as a member of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the period from 2026 to 2028.

This was reported on X by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha , Ukrinform saw.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted that this is a significant achievement for which Ukraine has worked tirelessly for a long time.

"We are grateful for the trust and support. Ukraine is honoured to join one of the UN's principal organs advancing global cooperation on development, human rights, and humanitarian response," Sybiha wrote.

He noted that the listed aims correspond to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

"Ukraine will engage actively, constructively and in a spirit of partnership to achieve the SDGs, promote solidarity and build a more inclusive, just and resilient world for all," Sybiha assured.

The head of the foreign ministry also congratulated all elected ECOSOC member states, who "stand for the UN Charter and reject any attempts to undermine international law".

" We look forward to working closely together to uphold shared values and deliver tangible progress," Sybiha added.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on June 3, the United Nations members voted to elect Latvia to the UN Security Council for 2026 and 2027.
