Türkiye Reaffirms Commitment to Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks
(MENAFN) The second session of peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine commenced Monday in Istanbul, with Türkiye acting as the key mediator.
The historic Ciragan Palace hosted the event, where Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan opened the talks by emphasizing the goal of securing a durable peace between the warring nations.
“Türkiye stands ready to take any step necessary to facilitate the process,” Fidan declared, underscoring his country’s commitment to the dialogue.
This meeting follows the initial round held on May 16, also in Istanbul, where both sides consented to swap 1,000 prisoners each and shared their viewpoints on a possible cease-fire arrangement.
The delegations reiterated their intention to sustain discussions aimed at reducing tensions and resolving the ongoing conflict.
Throughout the war, Ankara has preserved strong diplomatic relations with both Moscow and Kyiv, consistently offering its role as a mediator to advance peace efforts.
