Japan discusses tariff policy with Us


(MENAFN) According to a media organization, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated on Sunday that Japan will carry on its tariff discussions with the US to get to an agreement in the Group of Seven summit, which will happen in Canada this coming June.

Ishiba informed journalists that after the 3rd phase of ministerial tariff discussions between Washington and Tokyo on Friday that “we will further advance discussions, with the G-7 summit in mind.”

Japan's top tariff mediator, Ryosei Akazawa, gathered with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and "strongly" called for the US to lift extra tariffs on his nation.

In a new call on the phone between Ishiba and US Leader Donald Trump, they both came to terms on that they will carry on working to get to a deal on the subject once they gather at the G-7 summit.
