Türkiye Denies False Claims of Trade with Israel
(MENAFN) The Turkish Trade Ministry firmly rejected accusations that Türkiye continues commercial exchanges with Israel, describing such assertions as unfounded on Thursday.
According to the ministry’s statement, these allegations stem from a figure accused of various terrorism offenses, currently evading justice abroad.
This individual, identified as an adversarial influence agent connected to foreign intelligence services, has fabricated and manipulated information to falsely suggest via social media that Türkiye maintains trade relations with Israel.
For over eighteen months, under the leadership of Leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Türkiye has stood at the forefront globally in mounting a resolute campaign across diplomacy, commerce, legal efforts, healthcare, and humanitarian assistance against Israel’s alleged genocidal actions in Gaza, as well as military aggression in the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria.
The ministry emphasized that this commitment is acknowledged and respected by Palestinians, the Palestinian administration, the wider Islamic community, and conscientious nations and peoples worldwide.
The ministry also stressed that Türkiye has consistently combated these falsehoods and defamatory claims for the past year and a half, pledging to intensify its efforts.
It highlighted that the government has repeatedly presented clear evidence, supported by statistics and detailed data, to refute such misinformation.
Recalling recent trade measures, the ministry noted that Türkiye reduced its commercial exchanges with Israel by approximately 30 percent between October 7, 2023, and May 2, 2024, during initial ceasefire negotiations and efforts to stabilize the region.
Furthermore, by government decree, on April 9, 2024, exports to Israel involving 1,019 products across 54 categories were suspended.
Three weeks later, on May 2, 2024, all exports, imports, and transit trade between Türkiye and Israel were entirely halted across every product category.
