Trump Calls For 30-Day Unconditional Ceasefire Following Phone Call With Zelensky

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The U.S. President has called for a 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, emphasizing that it must pave the way for a lasting peace agreement.

According to Ukrinform, President Donald Trump wrote this on his social media platform Truth Social, following a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Talks with Russia/Ukraine continue. The U.S. calls for, ideally, a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. Hopefully, an acceptable ceasefire will be observed,” Trump noted.

If this does not happen, the United States and its partners will impose further sanctions, he warned.

“Thousands of young soldiers are dying on a weekly basis, and everybody should want it to STOP. I do, and the United States of America does, also. As President, I will stay committed to securing Peace between Russia and Ukraine, together with the Europeans, and a Lasting Peace it will be!” Trump stressed.

He noted that this ceasefire must ultimately build toward a peace agreement.

“It can all be done very quickly, and I will be available on a moment's notice if my services are needed,” the U.S. president added.

As Ukrinform reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed further steps toward peace during a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, including Ukraine's readiness for negotiations in any format.
