Minister Honours 'Read, Rise And Recite' Contest Winners


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater honoured the winners of the second edition of the "Read, Rise, and Recite” competition for the 2024-25 academic year, organised by the ministry's Private Schools and Kindergartens Department, in collaboration with Beta Cambridge School, during a ceremony held at the permanent headquarters of the ministry.
The competition aims to instill Islamic values in students, encouraging them to memorise and interpret the Holy Qur'an as a guiding principle in their lives, helping shape their character and enhance their academic performance through improved memorisation and focus skills. It also seeks to foster positive competition and prepare participants to represent Qatar in international competitions.
In his speech during the ceremony, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs Omar Abdulaziz al-Naama said the competition carries spiritual and educational significance, as it is centred around the Holy Qur'an, making it a source of goodness and blessings.
He praised the participating students for exemplifying Islamic values through their morals and performances, instilling hope and reassurance for a future in which the next generation carries and embodies the teachings of the Qur'an.
He further emphasised that genuine education stems from the heart, and that principles rooted in faith and the Holy Qur'an remain steadfast against challenges. He noted that the large student turnout reflects the deep-seated goodness in their hearts.
Director of the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department Dr Rania Mohammed expressed pride in the exceptional memorisation and recitation skills demonstrated by the students. She commended the efforts of parents and schools in supporting and motivating students, highlighting that their excellence reflects a strong partnership between families and educational institutions. She further stressed the importance of initiatives that reinforce values and help shape balanced personalities inspired by the Holy Qur'an in their conduct and strength in life.
The competition witnessed the participation of 1,077 students from 123 private schools and kindergartens, with students competing in multiple levels and categories, including "The Ten Minor Readings” category, requiring full Qur'an memorisation with mastery in origins, phonetics, Tajweed, and recitation, excluding Hafs An Asim narration, alongside interpretation of Surah Al Isra, five memorisation levels of Full Qur'an memorisation, 15 Juz, 10 Juz, 5 Juz, and Juz Amma (for kindergarten and preparatory levels).
The prestigious title of "Taj Al Waqar” was awarded to Ali Mohammed Mustafa Fathallah al-Makki, a student from Al Andalus Secondary Private School for Boys, who secured first place in full Qur'an memorisation, embodying a distinguished model for students who preserve the Qur'an and follow its guidance in their educational journey.
