Russia Accuses Ukraine of Violating Easter Truce

(MENAFN) According to Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Ukraine did not comply with the 30-hour Easter ceasefire, which concluded at midnight on Monday.

She voiced her statement on Sunday evening, shortly after the U.S. State Department indicated its openness to a potential extension of the temporary pause in hostilities “beyond Sunday.”
Zakharova stated via Telegram, “Well, the Kiev regime failed to observe it during Easter.”

She further alleged that the Ukrainian forces breached the agreement by deploying American-made HIMARS missile systems during the ceasefire.

Highlighting what she described as a recurring trend, Zakharova added, “It is not a coincidence, but a pattern: during the moratorium on strikes on energy facilities, Zelensky – despite having agreed to it – was deliberately targeting civilian energy infrastructure.”

In contrast, Ukrainian Leader Vladimir Zelensky had earlier claimed he would honor the brief truce declared by Russian Leader Vladimir Putin, contingent upon Moscow’s adherence to the agreement.
