Ukraine puts Hollywood actor on ‘kill list’

Russian actor Mark Eydelshteyn, known for his roles in the films The Land of Sasha and Anora, has been added to Ukraine's controversial Mirotvorets database, which lists individuals deemed threats to national security. The 23-year-old actor is accused of undermining Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, particularly through his visits to Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.Eydelshteyn’s involvement in the 2022 film The Land of Sasha, shot in Crimea, likely contributed to his inclusion. The Mirotvorets database, created in 2014, has gained notoriety for being associated with suspicious deaths of several individuals listed on it. Critics, including Russian officials, have labeled it a "kill list," citing the deaths of people under mysterious circumstances, often attributed to Ukrainian intelligence agencies.Despite claiming to operate in accordance with Ukrainian law and international norms, the site has faced significant criticism, including calls for violence against Russians and graphic depictions of deceased soldiers. The database has also included figures like US politician Tulsi Gabbard and journalist Tucker Carlson.
