Jordan Announces Monday As First Day Of Eid Al Fitr

Amman, March 29 (Petra) – Jordan's Grand Mufti, Ahmad Al-Hasanat, announced that Sunday will be the final day of Ramadan, with Monday marking the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.
Speaking at the crescent sighting event held by the Ifta Department on Saturday evening at King Hussein Bin Talal Mosque in Dabouq, Amman, Al-Hasanat stated that since the Shawwal crescent was not sighted, Sunday will complete the 30 days of Ramadan, and Monday will be the first day of Shawwal 1446 AH.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on the occasion of Eid, praying for their continued good health and for blessings upon Jordan, its people, and the entire Arab and Islamic world.
The event was attended by Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places Mohammad Khalaileh, Chief Islamic Justice Abdul Hafiz Al-Rabta, President of the Sharia Judicial Council Kamal Smadi, members of the Ifta Council, and scholars in Islamic law and astronomy.
The Ministry of Awqaf announced that Eid prayers will be held at 7:00 AM on Monday.
