Meta Announces Reintroduction Of 'Friends' Tab On Facebook App
Washington: Meta announced the reintroduction of the "Friends" tab on Facebook app, allowing users to enjoy a browsing experience focused solely on their friends' posts, free from platform-generated recommendations.
This move is part of a series of classic features the company plans to reintroduce this year in an effort to bring back the early Facebook experience from the first decade of the 2000s.
The new tab appears in the navigation bar below the homepage, allowing users to view their friends' posts, stories, short videos (Reels), as well as a list of recent birthdays, new friend requests, and suggestions of people users may know.

The company noted that if the "Friends" tab does not appear in the lower bar, users can manually enable it through settings. This can be done by clicking on the profile picture, going to "Settings and Privacy," then "Settings," and selecting the "Tab Bar" option where they can pin the "Friends" tab. Users can also long-press the tab and select
"Customize Tab Bar" to add the "Friends" tab.
This move mirrors what Meta previously did with the Threads app, where it added a "Following" tab after its launch in 2023, allowing users to view posts only from accounts they follow.
The addition of the "Friends" tab on Facebook aims to foster connection with friends and family, away from the clutter of advertising and suggested content. (QNA)
