PARIS, March 27 (KUNA) -- The French capital will host on Thursday the "Coalition of the Willing" Summit for Ukraine to ensure its security and stability.
The summit will be led by French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, featuring the participation of Kiev allies to discuss the latest development in the Russia-Ukraine war.
A statement by the French Presidency affirmed that the summit aimed at bolstering peace efforts, including the one launched by the US, to achieve a strong and sustainable peace in the Ukraine with European and Ukrainian interests taken into consideration for any possible peace process.
According to the Paris initiative launched on February 17 and following discussions with British partners, the current summit aimed at pinpointing operational options for peace in the Ukraine.
The participants will also be focusing on boost aid to the Ukraine as well as providing long-lasting support to the Ukrainian military to ensure security and stability of the region.
The Paris summit comes a week after the European summit held in Brussels, which touched on peace negotiations between the US and Russia on the Ukraine war.
Some 33 delegations, European leaders, Ambassadors from Canada and Australia, officials from the EU and NATO will partake in the summit.
President Macron announced on Wednesday additional military assistance to the Ukraine at EUR two billion (around USD 2.15 billion).
For his part, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that the French military assistance batch was critical for Kiev's war efforts, calling on the international community to pressure Moscow to agree to an unconditional ceasefire. (end)
