Bayern Munich Announces Two Injured Players

(MENAFN) Bayern Munich, a German Bundesliga team, confirmed on Wednesday that international team members Alphonso Davies as well as Dayot Upamecano have sustained injuries.

As per a statement on the club's official platform, French defender Upamecano is likely to be sidelined for several weeks due to a left knee injury, whereas the situation with Davies is considerably more severe.

The Canadian international has torn the cruciate ligament in his right knee and is likely to be sidelined for several months following his surgery.

"Unfortunately, there is always a risk of players returning injured during national breaks – this time it hit us particularly hard. The absence of Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano is a heavy blow for FC Bayern," Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl commented.

Upamecano joined Bayern Munich in 2021 after transferring from fellow German side Leipzig, where he played a crucial role in winning two Bundesliga titles as well as two German Super Cups.

On the other hand, Davies, who moved from MLS club Vancouver to Bayern in 2019, has accumulated 13 trophies with the club, one Champions League title and five Bundesliga championships.
