Speaking in the programme, Assistant Secretary-General for Relief and International Development at the Qatar Red Crescent Dr. Mohamed Salah Ibrahim said that people in Gaza are facing a very tough time.
“We were able to reach our brothers in Gaza at a very difficult time, as the crisis is still ongoing. A medical team of QRCS returned from Gaza about ten days ago. Of course, no matter how much I talk about the situation and how frankly I speak, I cannot describe it because the situation was tough,” said Ibrahim.
He said that the people of Gaza need food, water, fuel, healthcare, shelter, among other basic needs.
“The people of Gaza were displaced within the Strip. Some of them say that they were displaced 15 times within the Strip, moving from one area to another,” said Ibrahim.
He said that healthcare facilities are also destroyed in Gaza.“They need big support. We launched a project to maintain 500 flats of a residential complex in phase one with the support of local workers and resources,” said Ibrahim.
Director of Development Projects at Qatar Charity Abdulaziz Hajji said that fundraising campaign was launched by Qatar Charity in coordination with QRCS.
“The project aims to rebuild and maintain about 1,500 houses, schools, and key facilities in Syria. Many houses, health facilities, and shopping complexes were damaged,” said Hajji.
