DPIIT Conducts Extensive Review Of Infrastructure Projects In Bihar, West Bengal, And Odisha
The Project Monitoring Group (PMG) conducted an in-depth analysis focusing on projects spanning multiple sectors, including healthcare, power, transportation, and industrial infrastructure.
A significant emphasis was placed on five projects under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, particularly the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospitals in Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha.
These healthcare facilities are designed to provide essential medical benefits, including specialised treatments, comprehensive medicine coverage, and hospitalisation services for insured citizens and their families.
The review encompassed projects from several critical ministries, including Steel, Coal, Road Transport and Highways, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Railways, and Power.
A notable point of discussion was the Buxar Thermal Power Plant project in Bihar, a 1320 MW initiative with an estimated investment of INR 10,439.09 crore, which received particular attention during the assessment.
Principal Economic Advisor Shri Praveen Mahto chaired the meeting, which brought together senior officials from Central Ministries, State Governments, and project stakeholders.
The primary objective was to identify and address potential bottlenecks impeding project execution. Mahto emphasised the government's commitment to strengthening the institutional framework for project monitoring and called for a proactive approach in resolving outstanding issues.
During the meeting, Mahto underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between government bodies and private sector entities. He encouraged stakeholders to leverage the Project Monitoring Group mechanism to accelerate project implementation.
The emphasis was placed on enhancing coordination between Central Government agencies, State Authorities, and private sector partners to ensure timely and efficient project completion.
The DPIIT's Project Monitoring Group remains dedicated to facilitating high-impact infrastructure projects, with a clear focus on supporting India's economic growth through strategic project management and timely implementation.
